WHO WE AREThe GS Legal Department ("GS Legal") plays an essential role in the formulation and implementation of the strategy of GS. The advice and counsel provided by GS Legal to all areas of the firm is critical to maintaining the firm's commitments to its clients, regulators, and shareholders and to promoting its culture of excellence and integrity. GS Legal's goal is to provide advice that protects the firm's financial well-being and reputation and assists the various businesses in executing transactions and evaluating the associated risks.
YOUR IMPACTThe role will be based in Singapore and will be focused on the Commodities business of the Global Markets Division.
Role DescriptionThis will include providing support to our product lawyers as well as providing advice and assistance to our traders and salespeople on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters across Commodities and Global Markets more broadly. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Providing legal advice to the Commodities business, support for our regional Commodities business, and assisting on related agreements and other documentation;
- General focus on all other Global Markets businesses across flow and structured derivatives and sales and trading;
- Advising on regulatory matters impacting the Commodities business (including global and local regulations);
- Preparing, maintaining, and updating precedent legal documentation and agreements to incorporate changes in applicable law and regulations, Goldman Sachs offshore policy, or changes in market practice;
- Working with the Global Markets Compliance team on regulatory matters and investigations;
- Liaising with Legal and Compliance personnel at Goldman Sachs locally, regionally, and globally on issues relating to the Global Markets Division;
- Assisting in the preparation of materials for submission to the internal Goldman Sachs regional and global committees.
The role requires the ability to work independently and to manage a diverse and complex workload meeting tight deadlines. Lawyers in our team work closely with a diverse group of clients across our trading floors and thrive on the pressures of delivering consistently high-quality advice to a dynamic, and constantly evolving, business.
QUALIFICATIONS- Qualified lawyers with minimum 5 years PQE;
- Relevant post-qualification experience with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel;
- An ability to demonstrate a strong grounding in financing and commodities, securities law, and regulation.
