PR Associate Account Executive (Entry Level)

The PR Associate Account Executive (Entry Level) will contribute to daily account work by managing small projects as directed by project leaders. They will learn Edelman’s various Communications and Marketing processes/approaches, including public engagement, message workshops, master narrative assignments, brand engagement, social media campaigns, and stakeholder mapping exercises. The Associate Account Executive will support account teams in executing these processes for clients.

Basic Qualifications:

1. At least 6 months of experience in Communications and Marketing or related fields, including research, advertising, management consulting, media, or publishing (Desirable in Tech).
2. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university (Communications, Marketing, or similar).

Responsibilities and Expectations:

Communication Skills:

1. Written Communication: Strong writing skills are essential for drafting press releases, emails, blog posts, and social media content.
2. Verbal Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, journalists, and the public.

Social Media Skills:

1. Proficiency in managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
2. Ability to craft engaging content and respond to community interactions in a timely manner.

Media Relations:

1. Knowledge of how to build and maintain media lists (Desirable in Tech).
2. Understanding of how to pitch to journalists and media outlets (Desirable in Tech).
3. Ability to interpret media coverage and trends.

Research Skills:

1. Ability to conduct market research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences.
2. Familiarity with using online tools to track media mentions, sentiment, and coverage.

Media Monitoring and Media Relations:

1. Track news articles, blog posts, and social media mentions related to the company or its industry.
2. Keep records of media coverage and report on PR outcomes.
3. Build and maintain media lists to target the right journalists.
4. Support outreach efforts to media outlets, such as sending press releases and following up with journalists.

Writing Press Materials:

1. Draft press releases, media alerts, and other public communications.
2. Prepare talking points for executives or spokespeople.

Social Media Management:

1. Assist in managing social media accounts by creating and scheduling posts.
2. Monitor social media platforms for engagement and trends.
3. Respond to comments or messages on social media channels.

Content Creation:

1. Write articles, blog posts, newsletters, or other written materials for external communication.
2. Assist in preparing presentations and promotional materials.

Event Coordination:

1. Assist in organizing events such as press conferences, product launches, or media tours.
2. Help manage logistics and event promotions.

Research:

1. Conduct market research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences.
2. Track the effectiveness of PR campaigns and analyze feedback from media and the public.

Client Support:

1. Assist senior PR staff in managing client relationships, including handling inquiries and preparing reports.
2. Help coordinate client meetings and maintain client communication.
3. Monitor potential PR crises and assist in preparing response strategies.
4. Provide administrative support during crisis communication efforts.

Tracking and Reporting:

1. Monitor the success of campaigns and compile reports with metrics such as media impressions, engagement, and reach.
2. Help track the ROI of PR activities and report results to senior team members.
