This role will direct all risk and governance for SJPUTG (one of the largest Authorised Fund Managers (AFM) in the UK), its regulated fund range and all teams in Investments, which are responsible for managing circa £150bn of assets under management (including the UK's largest multi-asset fund range for retail clients). The role is accountable for ensuring Investments and UTG are operating in line with the Group Risk Appetite Statement. The jobholder will also ensure UTG, the funds and Investments are managed at standards commensurate with standing in the market, in line with regulatory requirements and Group policies, with robust documentation and evidencing of standards.
In performing the role, the jobholder will consider the long-term goals and objectives of the Group's key stakeholders. In particular, acting in line with the Group's stated risk appetite and seeking to achieve positive outcomes in respect of clients, Partners, the Investment proposition, financials and shareholders, regulators and employees.
What you'll be doing:
Investments
- Direct the governance and policy framework for Investments and related legal entities. This includes all management committees, SMCR and management delegations, policies and procedures ensuring clear accountability across Investments and the SJP Group.
- Design and implementation of the framework for breach and incident management, including root cause analysis, and ownership of control environment quality with benchmarking against industry.
- Directing oversight of Investments to ensure teams are operating within risk appetite and addressing areas out of tolerance. This includes formal reviews of procedures and controls to ensure operating effectively and driving enhancements/remedial action.
- Setting high standards for quality and delivery of Board and committee papers for Group and all legal entities and management information to ensure evidencing of reasonable steps.
- Building of key relationships in the Group including the Chief Client and Marketing Office, Chief Risk Office and Internal Audit.
SJPUTG Funds- Robust fund oversight for all regulated funds including oversight of pricing errors, breaches and complaints.
- Oversight of key functions in the centralised Group structure including Investment Operations to ensure regulatory requirements and industry standards are met.
- Management of the Trustee for SJPUTG funds.
SJPUTG- Enabling the SJPUTG CEO to fulfil their function and responsibilities in line with Group and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the annual Consumer Duty report, including oversight of SJPUTG client outcomes.
- Management of SJPUTG Board and Executive Committee.
- Regulatory landscape and industry benchmarking.
Who we're looking for:Essential experience- Good knowledge of regulatory frameworks and governance standards within regulated funds.
- A proven track record of implementing effective governance structures within asset management firms.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience with technical teams.
- Direct experience of engaging with regulators.
Desirable experience- Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills at senior levels.
- Excellent presentation skills with experience in Board-level engagement.
- Good knowledge and experience of the Consumer Duty regulations and client outcome reporting.
