Job Description

ROLE: Field Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: HQ Lower Darwen.

SALARY: Circa £42,000 to £46,000 dependent on experience. Plus overtime. Plus annual bonus. OTE approx. 50 - 52K. Company Vehicle + ½ day finish on a Friday.

This growth business leads a group of 4 successful brands with a combined global turnover of $140 million.

We are currently searching for a Field Mechanical Engineer to join the team supporting the customer on site, providing technical direction and solutions needed for the installation or maintenance of the designed bespoke equipment.

75-85% travel covering the UK, Spain, Italy, France, and Switzerland.

Field Mechanical Engineer key skills:

1. Field or Multi Site experience.
2. Hands-on approach is absolutely key.
3. Essential exposure to maintenance and mechanical installation.
4. Ability to diagnose equipment and read and understand system schematics and technical drawings.
5. Willingness to collaborate with the field team in taking responsibility and supporting the testing of new and custom machinery at the Test Bay site in Darwen.
6. Strong communication required to provide feedback with peers on development and improvements.
7. Ability to travel in the UK and Europe with a UK driving license.
8. Experience with hand and power tools.
9. Ideally with some exposure from product movement or handling (could be from the Food, waste recycling, confectionery, pharmaceutical, paint, bakery, or building industry).

Field Mechanical Engineer attributes:

1. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with an interest in manufacturing or a technical environment.
2. Educated to degree level with mechanical engineering or mechanical maintenance HND or degree.
3. Basic knowledge of Electronics and Electrical systems.
4. Welding, Fabrication, Rigging.
5. Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights.
6. Ability to balance many tasks at the same time; time management is key.
7. Positive attitude and manner.
8. Strong mechanical aptitude.
9. Excellent communicator to develop and build customer relationships.
