Brief Description:

Project Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex custom turn-key automation and robotic equipment/systems that optimize manufacturing processes utilizing CAD (Inventor).

Responsibilities:

  1. Engineer designs that satisfy contract specifications and all applicable design standards while meeting material budget constraints.
  2. Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc., as related to machine and tool designs.
  3. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc., in the development of equipment, processes and products.
  4. Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility of design, operation, and performance of equipment and components.
  5. Provide technical directions to Toolmakers and Machinists as needed.
  6. Participate in design and project reviews as needed.
  7. Research and specify appropriate purchased components.
  8. Create and update drawings, flow diagrams, Bills of Materials, organize release packages.
  9. Create and maintain documentation for Operating Manuals.
  10. Ensure the mechanical design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
  11. Innovate and use good judgement to incorporate company standards, customer and regulatory requirements.
  12. Consult regularly with Project Engineer Supervisor to report status and raise issues.
  13. Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to mechanical design issues.
  14. Work under the confines of project schedule and budget.
  15. Problem solve with Machine Builders to debug mechanical issues.
  16. Complete correspondence, documentation and reports as required including updates.
  17. Maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
  18. Support and participate in Quality Management initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have excellent proficiency with CAD (Inventor).
  2. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  3. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  4. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and maintenance.
  5. Ability to understand and align activities with department priorities and objectives.
  6. Strong diagnostic problem solving skills.
  7. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple activities/initiatives at one time.
  9. Self-motivated and able to work independently with a high regard for accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
  10. Must be able to work from schematics and rough sketches to complete assignments.
  11. Positive work attitude.
  12. Must be able to work well with others, build and maintain positive employee relations and be a team player.
  13. Must exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views.
  14. Must be customer minded and have pride in task accomplishment.
  15. Must be willing to give an extra hand when needed.
  16. Must be willing to be involved in optimization of production methods and process flows.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of mechanical automation experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
