The successful candidate will drive the organization's people strategy, focus on staff wellbeing and development, and ensure a collaborative work environment. You will be a key player in fostering innovation and cultural transformation while delivering outstanding care to Londoners. Strong leadership skills and experience in large organizations are crucial.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) is looking for a new Chief People Officer to join our Board at an exciting time in our journey of improvement and transformation.
We are seeking a Chief People Officer who will play a lead role in shaping a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing workforce that delivers outstanding care to Londoners every day. With passion and purpose, our new Chief People Officer will drive the Trust’s people strategy – championing staff wellbeing, professional development, and cultural transformation. As a key member of the executive team, you will inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and ensure that every colleague feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference in one of the most dynamic and vital healthcare environments in the country.
As the only pan‑London NHS provider, we respond to more 999 and 111 calls than any other ambulance service in the country, caring for thousands of Londoners every day. Our ambition is simple: to deliver outstanding emergency and urgent care whenever and wherever it is needed.
As a future NHS leader, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they meet the NHS leadership competency framework for board members (please see the candidate information pack below for the six domains). The competency domains are aligned to Our NHS People Promise, Our Leadership Way and the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles).
We respond to more 999 and 111 calls than any other ambulance service in the country, and operate a number of specialist teams to provide tailored care to people’s needs – this includes our joint community response teams who care for frail older people in their homes.
We attend more than 2,700 patients every day. Our patients, staff, volunteers and communities are at the heart of what we do, and we involve them in helping to shape our work and the care we provide. As a large NHS organisation caring for the whole of London, we are responsible for ensuring our services and employment practices are accessible and inclusive for the diverse communities we serve and the people we employ or who volunteer with us.
