Head of Civil/Structural Engineering – Lead, Innovate, and Inspire!

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus & Benefits

Location: Portsmouth or Monmouth (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

We are looking for a Head of Civil/Structural Engineering to join our thriving consultancy. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead major projects, provide strategic direction, and play a key role in shaping the future of our engineering division. Although you can be based at either the Portsmouth or Monmouth office, please note there will be a requirement to travel to the Monmouth office a couple of times a week where the civil and structures team are largely based.

1. Lead and develop scheme designs using industry-leading software.
2. Manage and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their growth and success.
3. Oversee the delivery of large-scale Government & MOD projects, ensuring they meet time, budget, and quality expectations.
4. Conduct structural engineering analysis and design, working closely with CAD Technicians.
5. Attend project meetings and site visits, providing technical expertise.
6. Undertake condition surveys and produce detailed reports.
7. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and business management processes.
8. Collaborate with other disciplines within the consultancy, including Surveyors, Architects, M&E Engineers, and Project Managers.
9. Actively engage in CPD and professional development, staying ahead of industry trends.

1. Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE).
2. Extensive experience in civil and structural engineering, with a proven leadership track record.
3. Strong technical expertise in structural design and construction problem-solving.
4. Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
5. Ability to communicate critical project issues effectively with Directors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
6. Security Clearance (SC level) (or willingness to obtain).
