Britten-Norman is seeking a Production Director who is highly skilled and experienced in aerospace manufacturing and also passionate, inspirational, and driven to lead a dynamic team in the production of new aircraft, parts, and associated engineering support activities.

This is a pivotal role within our organisation, offering a unique opportunity to deliver UK-built aircraft from our newly re-patriated production line, and be a part of aviation history. As we embark on this exciting new chapter, you will be instrumental in overseeing the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across all manufacturing operations.

Britten-Norman is the producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK and is now the UK’s only independent civil aircraft manufacturer. We are also a leading aerospace SME, offering a market leading range of aviation related services internationally.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a vision for continuous improvement, a deep commitment to operational excellence, and a clear focus on customer satisfaction. As Production Director, you will lead the manufacturing process from the initial design stage through to the final delivery of aircraft and parts, overseeing all production operations while fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative company culture.

You will be expected to drive change, embrace innovation, and improve both internal processes and employee development. We are looking for a leader who can inspire teams, instil a shared sense of purpose, and motivate the workforce to achieve ambitious manufacturing and performance goals. The Production Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance to Part 21G regulation across all activities and be able to hold the Form 4 position for the approval.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Project management.
  • Management in an SME.
  • Managing fitters/mechanics/technicians.
  • Significant manufacturing experience, ideally including low volume, low tech, high skill manufacturing operations.
  • Operating in a Part 21 environment.
  • Degree or similar level of education.
  • Project management qualification would be desirable.
  • Engineering, Aerospace or Business Management Degree would be desirable.
