Our client is a leading Investment Management company and currently has an exciting opportunity for a Climate Modeller to join their Climate Solutions team. The team is responsible for modelling, implementing and communicating climate response strategies for clients, and embedding climate factors into all investment areas. Our client is open to considering candidates with climate experience from a range of sectors, and the role would particularly suit those coming from a consulting background and wishing to work directly in industry.
Responsibilities:
Developing climate scenarios, climate risk, temperature alignment and related metrics through enhancement of the climate modelling toolkit.
Working with colleagues in the Group function to support their use of the climate modelling toolkit for reporting and strategy.
Identifying and engaging with movements in the climate and nature reporting space and developing positions on the key questions around data quality and use.
Advising investment teams on using and understanding the climate risk toolkit, helping embed climate risk into the investment process.
Developing effective outreach materials (presentations, whitepapers, blogs) for internal and external consumers of climate data and analysis.
Supporting the CIO office on climate, nature and energy related matters and wider strategy.
Identifying investment opportunities from the climate transition.
Experience Required:
Detailed knowledge and understanding of climate change, energy systems, carbon pricing and policy, and climate risk (transition and physical).
An understanding of corporate finance theory, especially within an investment context.
Knowledge of macroeconomics, especially an understanding of macroeconomic modelling and the ability to interpret macroeconomic data.
Understanding of regulation and government policy with respect to climate change at a global level.
Broad awareness of the asset management/capital markets industry and the different challenges climate change poses for clients.
Strong technical skills, especially modelling in Excel, and ideally other modelling environments (particularly SQL, R and/or Python).
Confident and capable communication and presentation – with experience presenting in a professional context. Capable of explaining complex subject matter clearly.
Happy to work independently and in a structured and organised fashion. Capable of multi-tasking and managing short- and long-term projects simultaneously.
