Prairie AG Center is currently seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Lloydminster location in Alberta.

Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Accountant will primarily be responsible for verifying that transactions comply with sales contracts and procedures, and correctly invoices/bills clients for goods and services. This position will follow up on collections and allocate payments. This role will also be communicating with customers via phone or email to investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, irregularities, and misapplied payment transactions.

1. Verify that transactions comply with accounting procedures, and provide feedback to operations and sales teams regarding customer invoices for goods and services.
2. Maintain accounts receivable sub-ledger, work with operations to follow up on collections, and allocate payments.
3. Communicate with customers via phone or email to investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, irregularities, and misapplied payment transactions.
4. Follow established procedures to ensure accounts receivable customer files and records are properly maintained.
5. Responsible for data entry of payments.
6. Provide procedural support to accounts payable in any moderately complex vendor reconciliations.
7. Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities.
8. Provide information on expected incoming and outgoing cash flow requirements.
9. Advise on the content and accuracy of financial reporting.
10. Ensure that all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Record all business transactions, process accruals and adjustments, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial statements.
12. Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any internal or external audits or independent reviews being conducted.
13. Review cash control procedures and monitor the safeguarding of assets.
14. Collect, interpret, and report on financial data.
15. Organize filing of all appropriate documents.

1. Be able to interact with customers/clients and Team Members including the President.
2. Must possess the ability to interact with customers/clients and team members.
3. Ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms.
4. Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
5. Ability to read, understand, and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes.
6. Meticulous with numbers.
7. Demonstrated time management skills.
8. Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
9. High level of integrity and excellent work ethic.

1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
2. 1-3 years of experience in a financial department.
3. Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.

1. Requires ability to spend long periods of time sitting or standing at your workstation.
2. Ability to climb a flight of stairs to access the office.
3. Much of your time will be spent on the phone or computer.
4. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
