About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our UAE-based client, a reputable company in the hard commodity sector, for the role of Project Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Objectives:
- Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans, and confer with management to ensure alignment with overall project goals.
- Make detailed plans to accomplish project goals and direct the integration of technical activities.
Project Coordination & Scheduling:
- Assist in developing the project scope, design basis, and technical documentation.
- Organize, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities to maintain adherence to the project timeline and milestones.
- Maintain the project schedule by tracking progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues promptly.
Technical Documentation & Analysis:
- Review engineering drawings, BFDs/PFDs, process descriptions, and layout plans to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in performing process design analysis and simulations using specialized software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to validate design assumptions and calculations.
- Ensure that all project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Contractor & Vendor Liaison:
- Interface with international engineering contractors, vendors, and technology licensors during key design and review phases.
- Support the evaluation of bidding proposals and participate in the selection of engineering contractors by providing technical inputs and recommendations.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that project specifications and requirements are met by organizing and controlling all project elements.
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, industry practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
- Participate in risk management activities to minimize project risks and maintain high safety standards.
Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant project information and trends.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports and recommendations to project managers and senior management.
- Maintain clear and effective communication channels across all project stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
Team Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and internal teams to determine project specifications and resolve design and development challenges.
- Support the integration of technical activities across disciplines to achieve optimal project outcomes.
Skills
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field).
- A minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in engineering roles within large-scale international petrochemical or refining projects, spanning from conceptual design to EPC.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar) is a plus.
- Familiarity with the design and operational aspects of both ISBL and OSBL facilities is beneficial.
Knowledge & Compliance:
- Understanding of international and UAE regulatory standards, safety protocols, and environmental compliance requirements.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and interdisciplinary environments.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Language Requirement:
- English fluent, Arabic is a strong plus.
