Project Engineer

Location: Fujairah, UAE

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our UAE-based client, a reputable company in the hard commodity sector, for the role of Project Engineer.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Objectives:

1. Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans, and confer with management to ensure alignment with overall project goals.
2. Make detailed plans to accomplish project goals and direct the integration of technical activities.

Project Coordination & Scheduling:

1. Assist in developing the project scope, design basis, and technical documentation.
2. Organize, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities to maintain adherence to the project timeline and milestones.
3. Maintain the project schedule by tracking progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues promptly.

Technical Documentation & Analysis:

1. Review engineering drawings, BFDs/PFDs, process descriptions, and layout plans to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
2. Assist in performing process design analysis and simulations using specialized software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to validate design assumptions and calculations.
3. Ensure that all project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.

Contractor & Vendor Liaison:

1. Interface with international engineering contractors, vendors, and technology licensors during key design and review phases.
2. Support the evaluation of bidding proposals and participate in the selection of engineering contractors by providing technical inputs and recommendations.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

1. Ensure that project specifications and requirements are met by organizing and controlling all project elements.
2. Monitor compliance with applicable codes, industry practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
3. Participate in risk management activities to minimize project risks and maintain high safety standards.

Reporting & Communication:

1. Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant project information and trends.
2. Prepare and present detailed technical reports and recommendations to project managers and senior management.
3. Maintain clear and effective communication channels across all project stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.

Team Collaboration & Support:

1. Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and internal teams to determine project specifications and resolve design and development challenges.
2. Support the integration of technical activities across disciplines to achieve optimal project outcomes.

Skills

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field).
2. A minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in engineering roles within large-scale international petrochemical or refining projects, spanning from conceptual design to EPC.

Technical Skills:

1. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
2. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar) is a plus.
3. Familiarity with the design and operational aspects of both ISBL and OSBL facilities is beneficial.

Knowledge & Compliance:

1. Understanding of international and UAE regulatory standards, safety protocols, and environmental compliance requirements.

Soft Skills:

1. Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and interdisciplinary environments.
2. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Language Requirement:

1. English fluent, Arabic is a strong plus.
