We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will oversee month-end and year-end close processes, maintain strong internal controls, and drive process improvements across accounting operations. This role requires demonstrated leadership, deep knowledge of GAAP, and proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel.
Key Responsibilities for Accounting Manager - Leadership & Financial Reporting
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants; oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of account reconciliations, accruals, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation activities.
- Prepare and deliver timely financial statements, variance analyses, management reports, and KPIs in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows; monitor aging schedules, cash application, and optimize working capital management.
- Coordinate payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and other period-end tasks; ensure accuracy and timely submission of filings.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies; identify and remediate control gaps.
- Serve as primary contact for external and internal audits; prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (finance, operations, HR, tax) to support business initiatives and provide financial insight.
Required Qualifications - Accounting Manager Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role in corporate or public accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP implementations and reporting tools preferred.
- Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage cross-functional relationships and mentor staff.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications - Certifications & Tools
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant accounting certification preferred.
- Experience with financial consolidation software, process automation tools, and data analytics platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and internal control frameworks (SOX) preferred.
