Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to project success by providing technical services within agreed project time, quality, and cost objectives.
• Maintain and enhance transport modeling and planning knowledge.
• Continuously improve technical and industry knowledge through participation in forums and industry-related programs.
• Research, analyze, and report on a range of quantitative and qualitative transport modeling and planning projects.
• Undertake modeling and analysis tasks to support project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in Transportation Planning subjects from an accredited University.
• Open to students graduating in 2025 or 2026, as well as recent graduates from 2024 seeking work experience in the field.
• Successful applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 or 2:1 (or equivalent) and above.

1. Data Collection and Analysis

• Traffic Data Analysis: Assisting in the collection and analysis of traffic data, such as traffic volume counts, speed surveys, or accident data.
• GIS Mapping: Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to map transport networks, analyze traffic patterns, and visualize transportation data.
• Surveying: Conducting surveys of road conditions, traffic patterns, pedestrian and cyclist counts, and other transport-related data collection in the field.
• Statistical Analysis: Helping analyze data and preparing reports, charts, and graphs to summarize findings related to transport demand, safety, and infrastructure.

2. Research and Report Preparation

• Literature Reviews: Conducting research on transport policies, best practices, or emerging trends in the field (e.g., electric vehicles, sustainable transportation).
• Project Support: Assisting in the preparation of reports for ongoing transport projects, including summarizing findings, making recommendations, and helping prepare presentation materials.
• Market Research: Assisting in research related to public transport, mobility services, or urban transportation trends to support project planning and development.

3. Transportation Planning Support

• Route Planning: Assisting senior transport planners in evaluating and planning transportation routes, whether for public transit, freight, or private vehicles.
• Traffic Modelling: Helping in traffic flow modeling and simulations to assess the impact of proposed changes to transport infrastructure or the introduction of new policies.
• Public Transport Systems: Assisting with the analysis and planning of public transport systems, including bus, metro, and train schedules, ridership patterns, and capacity planning.
• Sustainability Planning: Supporting efforts to develop more sustainable transport systems, such as integrating bicycle lanes, pedestrian zones, or electric vehicle infrastructure into urban planning.

4. Assisting with Transport Policies and Strategies

• Policy Research: Supporting the development of transportation policies, including understanding local government transport regulations, sustainability goals, and future urban mobility plans.
• Regulatory Compliance: Assisting in the review of regulations related to transportation infrastructure, environmental impact assessments (EIA), and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Funding and Grant Research: Helping identify potential funding sources for transport projects, such as government grants or public-private partnership opportunities.

5. Administrative and Coordination Tasks

• Meeting Support: Assisting with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes during meetings related to transport planning or project discussions.
• Documentation: Helping organize and manage project documentation, reports, and transport-related data.
• Client and Stakeholder Communication: Supporting communication with project stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, and the public, to gather feedback and share project updates.

6. Field Work

• Site Visits: Conducting site visits to assess transportation infrastructure, road conditions, or the need for new transport solutions (e.g., new bus routes, parking strategies, etc.).
• Observation: Observing the operations of transport systems (e.g., public transit stations, intersections) and providing input on improvements or challenges.
