Job Description

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer – Consultant

Contract: Permanent

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will tackle diverse, real-world challenges from the ground up. Typically, this will involve going through the whole product life cycle: capturing requirements, designing, developing, documenting, testing, and delivering through to production. Awerian’s wide variety of intriguing projects, from proof-of-concept through to working prototypes, provide both intellectual and practical challenges.

Your work will involve creating and evolving a wide range of designs which may include products, assembly jigs, test equipment, and instrumentation. There will also be opportunities to present proposed solutions through sketches, animations, and renderings as part of the build, testing, and troubleshooting process.

Requirements

You will have a track record of academic excellence, hold a relevant degree, and have proven technical capabilities with notable experience in a number of the following areas:

  • Experience with a CAD package, preferably Solidworks, or other packages such as Catia, Creo, or AutoCAD
  • Experience in CAD design, manufacturing, design for manufacture, welding, and fabrication design.
  • Thermal simulation or thermal modeling experience
  • Experience using or basic understanding of PDM (product data manager).
  • Design for integration with electronics/PCBs
  • Liaison with supply chains to jointly solve technical problems
  • Ruggedised design for challenging environments
  • Miniaturised design for small form factors
  • Additive manufacture
  • Expertise in the use of hand tools, mechanical build, etc.
