Would it inspire you to see the tangible impact of your work on the world? To work for an organisation committed to making a positive difference for people everywhere? If so, we could be the organisation for you.

We are the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the world’s largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership. By joining our team, you will contribute to shaping the future of the built environment and advancing professional standards across the sector.

About the Role

Are you passionate about fostering strong business relationships, driving strategic growth, and making a real impact in the corporate world? Do you excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment where collaboration and innovation shape success? If so, this dynamic opportunity is for you!

As our Business Development Executive, you will play a vital role in enhancing our Company Membership programme. This is not a sales job in the traditional sense—it’s a strategic, consultative role focused on fostering relationships, increasing engagement, and identifying growth opportunities for CIOB’s products and services.

This position is full-time working from home with the requirement for occasional travel to events and meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct in-depth market research to identify prospects, generate leads, and support Business Development Managers in securing new opportunities and corporate relationships.
  2. Manage and grow our Expert Partner Initiative ensuring partners align with the Company Membership Value Proposition.
  3. Drive B2B revenue growth by account managing a small suite of Chartered Company Members.
  4. Develop and execute targeted engagement campaigns, organise webinars, and facilitate member focus groups to drive up engagement and participation.
  5. Collaborate cross-departmentally with Marketing, Education, Events, Sponsorship, Membership and Policy teams to maximise CIOB’s impact in the industry.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record in B2B business development, account management, or revenue-generating roles.
  • Strong ability to research, identify opportunities, and build rapport with key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Proactive, confident, and target-driven mindset with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience in membership organisations or charities (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry (desirable but not essential).

Why Work for Us?

We offer not only the opportunity to make a real difference through your work but also a friendly, flexible, and supportive working environment. Here’s what you can expect:

  • 25 days holiday (rising to 29 with service) plus bank holidays, a birthday day off, and Christmas closure.
  • Private pension scheme with employer contributions and free pension advice.
  • Private medical insurance (includes Online GP and Wellbeing Assistance) and a Health Cash Plan (includes dental and optical cashback).
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies and life assurance.
  • Access to resources supporting wellbeing, including an Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first aiders.
  • Development Opportunities: Learning and development tailored to your career growth.
  • Inclusive Environment: We’re a disability-committed and EDI-focused employer, with values that celebrate diversity and inclusivity.
  • Recognition: We hold a Gold Investors in People Award, reflecting our commitment to your development and wellbeing.
