As a Supply Chain NPI (New Product Introduction) Associate Director, you will play a critical role in leading and managing the end-to-end supply chain process for the successful launch of new products. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring seamless integration of new products into the supply chain. Your expertise in supply chain management and NPI processes will be instrumental in optimizing efficiency, mitigating risks, and achieving business objectives.
As the new EMEA SC team has been implemented recently, the person in charge is expected to build the new NPI function.
Another area of responsibility will be the cost improvement via design to cost (VE / VA).
Responsibilities
- NPI Leadership: Establish and lead the NPI team on EMEA level and oversee the end-to-end NPI process, ensuring alignment of supply chain strategies with product development timelines and business goals. Provide strategic direction and drive cross-functional collaboration among teams including procurement, manufacturing, logistics, quality assurance, and engineering.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Develop and implement supply chain strategies, policies, and procedures to support efficient and effective NPI execution. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and risk mitigation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Project Management: Establish project plans, timelines, and milestones for NPI projects. Monitor progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery and launch of new products. Regularly communicate project status updates to stakeholders.
- Supplier Management: Collaborate with procurement teams to select and manage suppliers for NPI projects. Evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate contracts, and establish performance metrics to ensure timely delivery of quality components and materials.
- Inventory and Demand Planning: Work closely with demand planning teams to forecast product demand and manage inventory levels during the NPI phase. Coordinate with manufacturing and logistics teams to ensure adequate inventory availability and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies for NPI projects. Proactively address supply chain disruptions, quality issues, capacity constraints, and other potential challenges to minimize their impact on product launches.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of NPI supply chain processes. Generate regular reports, analyze data, and provide insights to senior management to drive informed decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels with internal stakeholders, including product development teams, marketing, finance, and sales. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align objectives, address issues, and ensure successful NPI execution.
- Drive and consolidate all Design to Cost (VE / VA) initiatives on EMEA level.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in a senior role with some experience in New product introductions.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain functions, including procurement, manufacturing, logistics, quality assurance, and demand planning.
- Solid project management skills with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address supply chain challenges.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in using supply chain management systems and software.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in supply chain and NPI processes.
