What does this mean? You will help shape and establish a new Transformation Delivery Center of Excellence with the mandate to deliver complex transformation initiatives that enable our long-term strategy, ensuring alignment across functions and geographies. Your responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Drive the successful execution of high-priority transformation projects across the group.
  • Strategy & Development: Help shape the new Transformation Delivery Center of Excellence – the central engine behind the implementation of some of the group’s highest-priority transformation initiatives.
  • Accountability: Take ownership of high-impact, group-wide transformation projects to ensure delivery with minimal value leakage.
  • Advisory & Stakeholder Management: Act as a sparring partner to functional leaders and senior project stakeholders, ensuring delivery of expected impacts and proactively overcoming roadblocks.
  • Resource Management: Steer project resources (e.g., project managers, analysts) to ensure robust tracking, transparency, and disciplined progress management.
  • Reporting: Report directly to the Head of Transformation within the newly established Transformation Delivery Center of Excellence.
Qualifications

  • Experience: 4+ years of professional experience, preferably in fast‑paced environments such as Consulting, Private Equity, or Banking.
  • Project Leadership: Proven track record of leading and delivering large‑scale, cross‑functional projects.
  • Functional Expertise: Functional expertise in commercial areas of wholesale/retail (e.g., supply chain, category management) is a strong plus.
  • Education: University degree in Business, Economics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong alignment with our Metro Fundamentals: entrepreneurial, hands‑on, and results‑driven; high confidence and affinity working with data – from challenging business cases to interpreting company P&Ls; well‑honed program and project management skills with the ability to remain calm, structured, and focused in complex, uncertain, and fast‑moving environments; excellent communicator with the ability to create compelling storylines and present to senior leaders across the group.
  • Location & Languages: Based in Düsseldorf or willingness to relocate, with openness to occasional international travel depending on project needs; fluent in English; German is a plus.
Additional Information
  • Work‑life balance: Flexible working hours with the option of mobile working in agreement with your line manager, 30 days of holidays.

  • Exciting life on campus: Free gym and sports classes, Rioba coffee bar, canteen with discounted meals for employees, many campus events.
  • Discounts: discounted Jobticket as well as discounts in our wholesale stores and at many partner companies.
  • Comfort: Good transport connections, free parking spaces, JobBike.
