As an Inclusion Worker, you will provide 1:1 support to children and youth in municipal camps. You will have a strong interest in connecting with your camper and providing unique supports and accommodations while encouraging maximum participation. You will work closely with camp staff to provide the best camp experience for not just your camper, but the camp as a whole. You are not afraid to be silly and take on the “if at first you don’t succeed… try, try, again!” approach.

1. Reviews participant’s accommodation plan to familiarize self with participant’s social history, interests, abilities, needs, etc.
2. Assists participants with program activities as outlined in their accommodation plans.
3. Provides suggestions to program staff as it relates to program/equipment adaptations to allow for successful participation of participant.
4. Ensures participants successful involvement in recreation program, based on individual’s abilities.
5. Monitors the safety and well-being of participants and reports or documents any challenges or concerns.
6. Recognizes the participant’s strengths and limitations and provides program modifications based on their abilities while considering the need for safety.
7. Assists participants with personal hygiene (e.g., toileting, changing, washing hands).
8. Assists participants in and out of wheelchairs, on and off toilets, etc., using appropriate lifting techniques and procedures.
9. Responds to behavioural issues and proactively plans to prevent issues from escalating.
10. Responds to escalated issues ensuring safety of all (e.g., implementation of approved physical intervention techniques).
11. Responds to basic participant and family inquiries when possible/applicable; refers advanced issues to coordinator, supervisor, or manager.
12. Observes and immediately reports changes in participants’ physical and emotional conditions to coordinator, supervisor, or manager.
13. Ensures medications are taken by participants and stored in a safe/secure space.
14. Ensures areas are accessible and barrier free for participants.
15. Completes incident reports as required.
16. Provides first aid and CPR as required.
17. Performs duties in accordance with corporate confidentiality standards.
18. Performs other related duties as assigned.

1. Minimum Grade 12 diploma plus up to 1 year of additional job-related post-secondary education.
2. 1-6 months of related and relevant experience including on-the-job period of adjustment.
3. Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate.
4. Ability to provide a satisfactory Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) issued after March 1, 2025 upon conditional offer.
5. City of Kitchener approved behaviour management certification (e.g. PMAB, BMS, NVCI) post-hire.
6. Preference will be given to applicants with a Class G driver’s license and who have access to a vehicle for the full duration of employment.
7. Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.

1. Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted.
2. Ability to swim/provide support in the water.
3. It is recommended that vaccinations (Tdap, MMR, chickenpox, Hepatitis B) are updated and current for the period of employment.

1. Work is performed in a variety of municipal recreation spaces (e.g., golf course, community center, swimming pool, outdoors).
2. May be exposed to body fluids and waste when assisting participants with personal care in washrooms requiring the use of disposable gloves.
3. May be required to work with participants who may bite or scratch requiring the incumbent to wear protective arm guards.
4. May be required to work with participants with physical aggression.
5. Performs work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Anticipated Employment Dates: June 16, 2025 – August 22, 2025 (start and end dates to be confirmed)

Hours per week: 35 hours (beginning in July)

Hours of work: 8:30am - 4:30pm (hours vary based on participant needs and may include evening work)

Training dates: June 16 - June 26, 2025

Training hours: Up to 35 hours/week

Wage range: $20.782 - $25.980 (2024 rates)

1. A more detailed training schedule will be shared post-hire. Training will take place Monday–Friday. Please Note: ALL training in-person and online is required and mandatory to complete prior to start of program/camp.
2. Statutory holidays will be observed on July 1 and August 4.
3. Contract may be extended to include August 25 - August 29, 2025, based on program needs.
4. Hours of work fluctuate based on participant needs. Camp programs run between 8:00am and 5:00pm.
5. Some evening work required (weekly Tuesday night meetings 5:30pm - 6:30pm).
