Our Tech Stack

Your impact within our firm

As a data scientist at QuantumBlack, you will work in multi-disciplinary environments harnessing data to provide real-world impact for organizations globally. You will influence many of the recommendations our clients need to positively change their businesses and enhance performance.

Role responsibilities

1. Work on complex and extremely varied data sets from some of the world’s largest organizations to solve real-world problems.
2. Develop data science products and solutions for clients as well as for our data science team.
3. Write highly optimized code to advance our internal Data Science Toolbox.
4. Work in a multi-disciplinary environment with specialists in machine learning, engineering, and design.
5. Focus on modeling by working alongside the Data Engineering team.
6. Add real-world impact to your academic expertise, as you are encouraged to write papers and present at meetings and conferences.
7. Take part in R&D; attend conferences such as NIPS and ICML as well as data science retrospectives.
8. Work in one of the most advanced data science teams globally.

What you’ll learn

1. How successful projections on real-world problems across a variety of industries are completed through referencing past deliveries of end-to-end machine learning pipelines.
2. Build products alongside the Core engineering team and evolve the engineering process to scale with data.
3. Best practices in software development and productionize machine learning by working with our Machine Learning Engineering teams.
4. Work with our UX and Visual Design teams to interpret your complex models into stunning and user-focused visualizations.
5. Using new technologies and problem-solving skills in a multicultural and creative environment.

You will work on the frameworks and libraries that our teams of data scientists and data engineers use to progress from data to impact. You will guide global companies through data science solutions to transform their businesses and enhance performance across industries including healthcare, automotive, energy, and elite sport.

Your qualifications and skills

1. Bachelor's, MSc, or PhD level degree in a discipline such as computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, or engineering.
2. Up to 2 years of professional experience in programming; experience applied to business problems is a plus.
3. Programming (focus on machine learning): Python (must), R (highly valued), SPSS, SAS, Ruby, Hadoop (valued).
4. Data treatment/data mining, e.g. SQL, AWK, Access, Spark, Excel (highly valued).
5. Statistical knowledge is a plus.
6. Demonstrated aptitude for analytics.
7. Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
9. Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing – in English and Italian.
10. Knowledge of other languages, e.g. Portuguese, German, French, and/or Spanish is a plus.
