Role OverviewWe’re looking for a Financial Controller who thrives on ownership, accountability and pace. You’ll be the engine of our finance function – leading the month-end close, ensuring data integrity, enforcing controls, and delivering sharp, actionable reporting that drives decision-making. You’ll partner closely with our Finance Director, wider senior leadership team, operations teams and trading teams to ensure we’re making fast, informed, and commercially sound decisions.
This is a hands-on role that demands operational excellence, a strong control mindset, and deep experience in the mechanics of finance. We’re growing fast and need someone who can keep us in control while we scale.
ResponsibilitiesMonth-End, Reporting & Business Partnering- Lead the month-end close process with speed, accuracy and full balance sheet reconciliations.

- Deliver department P&L reports, margin bridges and spend analysis monthly.
- Partner across all teams to gather inputs and drive accountability on timelines.
- Present monthly financials to SLT and maintain the finance actions log.
- Review key judgements and adjustments on a monthly basis.
- Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliations across all entities.
Controls & Systems- Own and enforce a strong internal control environment across finance processes and ERP.
- Be the systems lead for Dynamics BC – owning access control, workflows and financial data quality.
- Lead process design and automation within ERP to improve speed, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Challenge inefficiencies in processes across the business, not just within finance.
Audit & Compliance- Take full ownership of the year-end audit process from planning to sign-off, including financial statement prep.
- Apply learnings from prior audits to future-proof the department.
- Partner with tax accountants to meet compliance deadlines.
Stock, Margin & Supply Chain Accounting- Own inventory valuation, landed cost reporting and related judgements/provisions.
- Partner with the operations team to improve reporting, controls and decision-making on stock.
- Align with supply chain to drive accuracy and clarity around goods movement and cost control.
Cashflow, Treasury & Risk- Monitor and report on 16-week cashflow forecasts – highlighting surpluses/shortfalls and proposing action.
- Lead working capital monitoring across payables and receivables.
- Track and manage FX hedging strategy and report monthly.
Team & Planning- Support the Finance Director with departmental planning, prioritisation, and resource allocation.
- Help drive the finance calendar – ensuring audit, reporting and tax milestones are never missed.
- Support budgeting and forecasting with accurate, timely data and models.
Our Ideal Candidate Would Be Someone Who...- 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller-level role or reporting directly to a Finance Director/CFO.
- Has led and improved fast-close processes (ideally under 5 days) in a growing business.
- Deep experience in managing ERP systems – ideally Microsoft Dynamics BC – with confidence designing controls and improving processes.
- Brings a strong understanding of inventory, landed cost and supply chain accounting.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce or physical goods is essential. Experience with Amazon, international sales, or marketplace models is a major plus.
- Strong business partner – can collaborate with Ops, Commercial and Tech teams to influence outcomes.
- Commercially-minded – doesn’t just report the numbers, but helps drive better ones.
- Highly structured, organised and calm under pressure.
- Track record of transforming finance processes and stabilising reporting environments.
