As a senior member of the Hardware Engineering team, you will work to lead, co-ordinate and develop the production team in the successful manufacture of control systems within the defence industry. The role is ideal for a highly experienced Production Engineer with a background and working knowledge of both Electrical & Mechanical Engineering to grow the Production Engineering capabilities.

This role requires the development of close working relationships between our production team, design & engineering teams, senior leadership team and procurement team. The primary tasks will be to plan and lead engineering work-packages and support the delivery of projects working closely with our suppliers to ensure their production activities are managed to timescales to meet programme objectives and manufactured to defined standards. The majority of the manufacturing will be undertaken by third parties but will require customer interaction in a hybrid fashion with potential visits to supplier sites required to support manufacture, testing and inspection, as required.

Specialist engineering knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical systems on a variety of defence programmes from a manufacturing perspective is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Own, manage and maintain both company and programme specific processes and procedures to enable successful manufacture.
  2. Own production progress reports provided by the team and communicate across functions along with external stakeholders including suppliers and our customers.
  3. To lead and provide support to production team across multiple disciplines and projects.
  4. Lead process improvements within both the department and the company aligning with practice panels.
  5. Control change management in the event of customer, supplier or internal design changes throughout production phases.
  6. Direct line management responsibilities for a team of Engineers – including tasks such as (but not limited to) career development, talent management, performance management, resource and leave management.

We are looking for:

  1. 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing/production engineer.
  2. Ability to work independently on own initiative, as well as within a collaborative team environment.
  3. Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  4. Prior experience of cabinet wiring and installation.
  5. Understanding and working knowledge of electrical build standards.
  6. IPC certified.

Security clearance:
