Job description

My client is a global manufacturer of electrical products and accessories such as plugs, sockets, sensors, switches and lighting, as well as many other green solutions. They currently turn over more than £500m per year and have over 2,000 employees worldwide. The UK division has almost 30 staff and have plans to grow their revenue by another £10m in 2025. In order to achieve these goals, the company are now looking to add another regional sales manager to their team, covering the South London and South East Home Counties region.

You will be targeting both independent and national electrical wholesalers in the region, as well as electrical contractors. You will be a natural relationship builder and have the persistence and tenacity to win orders as well as longer-term projects. The company is not looking for a door-to-door sales person, but someone who can sell consultatively and represent the company in a professional manner at all times, winning business through building trust and being able to demonstrate value.

You will ideally come from some sort of electrical sales background and have some sort of proven track record in achieving targets, whether this is from internal sales or out in the field, but other backgrounds and experience will also be considered. All training and support will be provided and there is some flexibility in terms of working from home and in the office. Targets will be kept realistic and achievable with an understanding that it can take several months to build a pipeline of business.

This will be a challenging sales role requiring someone with a strong work ethic as well as efficient organisational skills. In return you will be rewarded with a competitive basic salary and generous package, including car allowance and a lucrative bonus scheme and pension. In terms of future career progression, the company is huge and there will inevitably be opportunities to develop over time.

Aim of the Position

To grow the area with additional profitable business by achieving sales of the company’s wide range of quality wiring accessories, distribution equipment, and other related products to Electrical Distributors. Also to focus on the Electrical Contractors, End Users and Local Authorities either independent to the electrical distributor or as a combined joint activity.

  1. Increase turnover in line with the company goals within the designated sales area.
  2. Your time will be split 70% with national and independent electrical wholesalers and 30% creating pull sales with small to medium electrical contractors and related end users.
  3. Develop profitable business with current and new customers, building strong relationships and increasing the product mix sold.
  4. Generate business for the distributors in the area through sell-out activity with contractors, local councils and other third parties.
  5. Develop strong relationships with your key distributors (TOP 20) and work very closely to increase turnover.
  6. Maintain contact with line manager providing regular market reports and sales forecasts, and contact with all other office staff as required.
  7. Provide weekly feedback on competitor pricing and current pricing offers in your local market.
  8. Monitoring and updating of all projects via CRM Dynamics with full compliance.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience
  1. At least a year’s experience in a similar position is preferred.
  2. Strong negotiation and closing skills, excellent time management.
  3. Professional appearance with strong presentation skills.
  4. Relevant Industry, market knowledge, competitor knowledge would be an advantage.
  5. Enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual with good use of initiative.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical clients.
  7. Confident in approaching new contacts.
  8. Computer literate and conversant in the use of software packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  9. Competent with the use of Internet explorer and online research.
  10. Full driving licence.
  11. Accuracy.
  12. Teamwork.
  13. Flexibility.

Above all, they are looking for a professional, enthusiastic sales person looking to create a name for themselves within the Electrical Manufacturing industry. Generous Package available including Basic Salary up to £50,000, Quarterly bonus based on budget achievement of 25%. Over achievement up to 45% of salary. Other Benefits: Car Allowance (£8K), pension 7%, laptop, mobile, 25 days holiday + Bank holidays.
