Academy Team Manager
£42 an hour
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, creative, and confident Team Manager to manage our Duty Academy Team to cover on the agency whilst we recruit to a permanent manager.
The Duty Academy Team has been established for almost 2 years. The team completes assessments and works with our children in need of support, with a view to preventing escalation.
The team is made up solely of newly qualified social workers (ASYE), along with the support and guidance of an Advanced Practitioner, with the aim to ensure an excellent first year in practice.
Here at Wigan, we value our social workers and want you to be part of the team where your voice matters. You are listened to, and we thrive and challenge to ‘think out of the box’ by being positive, accountable, courageous, and kind.
The Team Manager will be responsible for the continued centre of excellence, whereby social workers use the Family Safeguarding model of practice to achieve fantastic outcomes for our children.
The nature of the work within the Duty and Assessment Service can be described as fast-paced, so as a manager of the Academy Team, you will be working closely with the current 5 Duty Teams within the service. The duty teams in Wigan hold a varying complexity of cases, in our Duty service, case transfer points include the initial child protection case conference, the first CLA review, and the first PLO meeting.
Your role as Team Manager of the Academy Team will be to hold the short-term Child in Need cases, undertake intensive work at the Child in Need stage to prevent escalation, and ensure the families that we work with receive the right help at the right time.
