The Operations Manager will lead the strategic development, launch, and management of the STAC Multi-Sport & Events League. This role focuses on creating a dynamic, inclusive calendar of weekend-focused programming (4–6 months in advance) and diversifying offerings beyond traditional court sports. Responsibilities include league logistics, event planning, partnerships, and ensuring seamless operations to drive growth and community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
League & Event Strategy
- Design and execute 4–6-month seasonal plans for 5 annual seasons, prioritizing weekend scheduling (tournaments, social events, and leagues) to maximize facility use.
- Expand offerings beyond basketball/volleyball by assessing community interest and feasibility (e.g., pickleball, futsal, fitness classes, themed social events).
- Oversee TeamLinkt system for registrations, payments, and scheduling, ensuring flexibility for multi-format programming.
- Manage playoffs, championships, and special weekend events, ensuring high-quality, inclusive experiences.
Marketing & Community Partnerships
- Develop targeted campaigns to promote weekend leagues, tournaments, and non-sport events (e.g., wellness workshops, community mixers).
- Collaborate with local businesses, fitness trainers, and entertainers to curate unique weekend activities.
- Leverage social media to highlight event diversity (e.g., photo/video highlights, participant testimonials, sponsor spotlights).
- Engage participants through surveys and focus groups to identify new event ideas and improve offerings.
Operations & Logistics
- Hire, train, and supervise part-time weekend staff, including event coordinators and facility supervisors.
- Ensure smooth transitions between weekday youth programs and weekend adult events, optimizing space and resources.
- Maintain equipment and adapt facilities for varied activities (e.g., court layouts, signage, tech setups).
Financial & Growth Management
- Build a sustainable revenue model balancing league fees, weekend event tickets, sponsorships, and grants.
- Track KPIs (weekend attendance, participant retention, new activity uptake) to guide growth decisions.
- Negotiate partnerships with vendors and sponsors to offset costs and enhance event value (e.g., food trucks, local brands).
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years in sports/event management, recreation, or hospitality with a focus on multi-activity programming.
- Proven ability to plan 4–6 months in advance and adapt to trends (e.g., pop-up events, hybrid sports).
- Tech-savvy with league management tools (TeamLinkt preferred) and social media marketing.
- Strong collaborator; able to work with diverse stakeholders (coaches, vendors, community groups).
