Technical Lead - Computing Architecture for Datacentre

A major element of ZRC is a research laboratory focused on research in the area of advanced Computing Architectures for datacenters, architecture evolution design and strategic technical planning on computing architecture.

The research in ZRC is carried out by leading experts in the technological area of computing with a strong reputation as academic research partners in universities across the world or in recognized global industries. Zurich Research Center provides an open research environment where academics and experts are encouraged to visit and work on research alongside Huawei staff in an environment that, like the best universities and research institutes, is open and conducive to such scientific work.

We are looking for a highly talented Technical Leader to set the technical direction and guide team members.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director of the Computer Architecture Innovation Lab in the technical planning and development of the lab.
• Continuously explore and make breakthroughs in computer architecture technologies based on the industry development trend and academic research achievements.
• Lead the technical team members to make technical breakthroughs in computer architecture, microarchitecture, etc.
• Lead the technical team, coordinate the lifecycle management of technical projects, identify and utilize advantageous resources outside China, and promote the design of the overall architecture and project implementation.
• Assist the lab director in coordinating the lifecycle management of technical projects, identify and utilize overseas advantageous resources, and promote the overall architecture design and project implementation.

Requirements:

• PhD or MSc in computer science or area related to computer architecture, or equivalent research experience in industry.
• At least 5-10 years of relevant research experience in industry or academia.
• Ability to provide innovation and an international vision.
• Record of publishing research papers in computer architecture, microarchitecture and/or related areas.
• Research experience in at least one of the following areas:
• Computer architectures: instruction set architecture, microarchitecture, cache sub-system, memory sub-system, NOC, interconnect.
• Hardware accelerators for emerging workloads (include but not limited to memory database, vector database, recommendation system, LLM).
• Workload characterization and analytical model generation.
• Heterogeneous Architectures and Systems for Datacentre.
• Parallel, High-Performance, and Distributed Computing with an emphasis on hardware-software characterization, optimization and innovation.
• Excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills.
• Experience working with highly technical teams and communicating to non-technical partners.
• Excellent oral and written English.
