We’re looking for our next Team Lead, Software Engineering GenAI & AI Applications. Could It Be You?

The Team Lead will be responsible for the people management of a software engineering team focused on maintaining and further developing our GenAI core platform. This involves leading a team of software engineers through all stages of the Agile software development life cycle, from inception to implementation, with a focus on developing a functionally rich, scalable, robust, and user-friendly platform.

This person will collaborate with Data Science, UI/UX, product, and business teams to deliver business value specifically related to the GenAI core platform. The ideal candidate for this role should be able to thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong work ethic, positive energy, the ability to innovate in the field of GenAI, and good communication skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Providing mentoring to team members to assist them in reaching their career goals, including performing 1:1 sessions with them on a regular basis
2. Conducting performance reviews of the engineering team
3. Managing promotions and career paths of team members
4. Working to unblock the team, assuring the deliverables committed by them
5. Addressing team member performance issues in a timely manner
6. Applying significant knowledge of industry trends to help Questrade improve and build innovative products
7. Coordinating external software development teams and vendors to define requirements and validate outputs
8. Planning, designing, and coordinating software development activities and mitigating technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle
9. Reviewing code to ensure quality and correctness of solutions
10. Enhancing and modifying existing applications as needed to add new features or improve user experience
11. Meeting regularly and interacting with a diverse team of business stakeholders, UI/UX designers, architects, and engineers to elicit and define requirements for new applications
12. Playing an active role in defining and implementing best practices, standards, and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies
13. Participating in and contributing to all Agile Scrum ceremonies
14. Leading the support efforts of the application in production, addressing issues in a timely fashion in order to meet SLAs
15. Developing and debugging code as well as writing automated tests for back-end services and web applications

1. Have a degree, diploma, or equivalent directly related work experience
2. Have a minimum of 7 years of experience in web-based technologies
3. Have exposure to the full software development life cycle, including design, configuration, integration, testing, and support
4. Have experience with the preferred technical stack:

Data: BigQuery, MongoDB, Redis Cache, SQL Server, MemSQL.
Back-end: .Net core and Python
Streaming: Google Pub/Sub, Kafka.
Infrastructure: Google Kubernetes Engine, and other Google Cloud Platform components, MongoDB
Tools: Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, preferably automated CI/CD.

• Experience with unit testing frameworks

Strong skills in performance application tuning. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with the ability to interact with multiple levels of stakeholders. Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent time-management and organizational abilities that facilitate structured teamwork. Experience leading projects and other engineers. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Ability to adapt and change based on new business requirements and environment. Experience with GenAI and Data Science is a bonus.
