Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Tax Coordinator in São Paulo, Brazil to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Tax Coordinator, you will assist in all aspects of direct and indirect tax for the local entities in the country.
Main responsibilities
- Local tax (direct and indirect) and tax structuring, managing risk and optimizing returns for projects in the development stage, as well as existing projects. Strong knowledge of VAT tax, especially ICMS, is desirable.
- Advise on optimal funding instruments for project companies and operating companies to reduce trapped cash, FX exposure, and tax exposure.
- Work closely with the Business Development department on project development, including reviewing assumptions in financial models.
- Review contracts and assist in drafting contracts that align with structuring decisions to ensure reduced tax exposure.
- Transfer pricing – collaborate with the Group Transfer Pricing team to ensure compliance and consideration of transfer pricing in structuring for your geographic area in the Scatec Group.
- Monitor and ensure general global compliance within the tax area.
- Manage tax audits and tax controversy matters in your geographic area and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Develop routines, policies, and internal controls (including operating systems) within the tax area.
- Monitor tax legislation in the countries where Scatec is established and assess measures to optimize ongoing operations.
- Provide technical support, advice, and assistance on routine activities and local tax requirements performed internally or by an outsourcing company.
- Manage projects and ad hoc tasks on a daily basis.
- Assist/participate within the Finance and Control organization on matters unrelated to tax when the activity level allows.
Qualifications and competencies
- Education: Graduate in Accounting, Law, or Business; preferably with a master's degree in finance/law.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience working with tax matters and structuring, preferably at a Big 4, large law firm, or in-house position.
- Language: Advanced written and spoken English.
- Competences: Contractual management of outsourcing companies, strong knowledge in VAT tax, especially ICMS, tax planning and business strategy, transfer pricing.
