Ford Advanced EV Development Physical Apps Engineering is looking for an experienced embedded software engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of automotive software solutions and embedded software modules for vehicles developed by Ford.

You will be expected to pivot quickly on new ideas. Failing fast will be normal.

What you’ll be able to do:

1. Collaborate with architects, engineers, GUI designers, and technical specialists to design embedded software solutions.
2. Implement new software modules using modern programming languages such as C, C++, or similar, and utilize IP, Ethernet, CAN, and LIN protocols.
3. Develop and enhance embedded graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
4. Develop and integrate video streaming solutions into embedded systems.
5. Contribute to the definition of objectives, scopes, timelines, milestones, deliverables, etc.
6. Develop automatic validation and ensure proper code coverage.
7. Validate new software modules on prototyping vehicle platforms.
8. Coordinate with system owners on planning, implementation approaches, testing, documenting, and maintaining software solutions using defined processes and tools.
9. Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of systems.

The minimum requirements we seek:

1. Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
2. 8+ years of software development experience, specifically in embedded systems.
3. Programming experience in C or C++.
4. Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems.
5. Experience with asynchronous IP communication.
6. Familiarity with continuous development and software development processes.
7. Strong documentation, writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Requirements:

1. Experience with video streaming protocols such as RTP, RTSP.
2. Experience with video encoding/compression such as H.265.
3. Experience in automotive software engineering.
4. Knowledge of automotive Ethernet, CAN, LIN, and the latest automotive communications standards.
