What You'll Do

• Monitor and troubleshoot Data platform services such as distributed storage, compute, and streaming.
• Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring, SLO tracking, and capacity-planning strategies that are well-aligned with business goals.
• Conduct deep-dive analysis of performance bottlenecks to optimize system efficiency.
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the deployment and management of cloud resources.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts to optimize data workflows and ensure seamless integration.
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Drive significant process improvements influencing wider team practices.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, proactively suggesting improvements and innovations.

Who You Are

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform engineering and cloud infrastructure.
• Extensive experience with Databricks and managing large scale data processing environments.
• Strong expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and Cloud Formation.
• Proficient in core GCP services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Spanner, App Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering and scripting tasks. SQL is always a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools (e.g., Apache Spark, ETL processes).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Passion for mentorship and knowledge sharing within a strong software engineering culture: Lead by example, foster the growth of SRE team members, and shape the direction of reliability engineering at H-E-B.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Git Lab, Terraform Cloud).
• Certification in AWS, GCP, Terraform, or relevant technologies.
