THE WORK

1. Design and develop scalable, high-performance systems that meet user and business needs.
2. Build and maintain custom WordPress plugins and themes, optimizing for performance and scalability.
3. Collaborate on open-source projects, actively contributing through pull requests, issue resolutions, and documentation improvements.
4. Engage in code reviews, architecture planning, and technical discussions to ensure high-quality software delivery.
5. Implement rigorous testing frameworks, including unit, performance, and integration tests, to maintain system reliability.
6. Focus on user experience and accessibility, building intuitive and inclusive features informed by data-driven insights.
7. Stay informed about the latest developments in PHP, WordPress Core, and industry best practices to drive innovation.

NEEDED EXPERTISE

1. 5+ years of production experience with PHP and WordPress development, including plugin and theme development.
2. Proven ability to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability in large-scale WordPress systems, with a solid understanding of software design patterns and architecture.
3. Strong proficiency in WordPress Core development, including Hooks, Filters, WP_Query, and REST API integrations.
4. Experience contributing to open-source projects, particularly in the WordPress Core community (e.g., submitting patches, reviewing tickets, or working on feature projects).
5. Hands-on experience with performance optimization, including caching strategies, database query tuning, and asset optimization.
6. Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, unit testing in PHP, and performance profiling tools.
7. Experience collaborating in code reviews, architecture planning, and technical discussions within development teams.
8. Strong understanding of accessibility best practices and experience building accessible solutions in WordPress.
