Senior Installation and Commissioning Project Manager (SAMER)

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the Installation, Commissioning, and Start-up (I&C) team for capital projects in South America (SAMER). This role is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of complex projects by overseeing engineering, resource planning, field operations, and cost control. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality in large-scale mining projects. You will also require strong project management, leadership and communication skills, as well as fluency in English and Spanish.

The Senior Installation and Commissioning Project Manager (SAMER) will report directly to the Head of Professional services SAMER. You will be based in Santiago, Chile.

Your responsibilities:
  • Lead the Installation, Commissioning, and Start-up team for capital projects in South America.

  • Ensure the health and safety of personnel in the field through proper planning and controls.

  • Collaborate with global engineering teams in the early stages of design and project development.

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of equipment and project components prior to its I&C (before deployment).

  • Plan and coordinate technical resources required for field execution.

  • Oversee the execution of fieldwork in collaboration with regional and global teams.

  • Facilitate and lead client meetings to review project progress.

  • Maintain strict cost control for services in capital projects.

  • Lead and manage large-scale, complex projects from initiation to delivery.

  • Develop and execute project plans, resource allocation plans, and budgets.

  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional project teams, including internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct risk assessments, identify mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions.

  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Communicate project status, progress, and issues to stakeholders, including project sponsors, customers, and team members.

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, scope statements, and status reports.

  • Ensure compliance with project management methodologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Mentor and coach junior project managers and team members.

  • Participate in business development initiatives, including proposal writing and customer presentations.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical Civil Engineer, Project Management and/or similar degree.

  • Minimum of 12+ years' experience in large-scale and complex mining projects working in the implementation, maintenance, or process management.

  • Strong background in mineral comminution equipment is preferred. (Crusher - Mill)

  • Must be Fluent in Spanish speaking and writing skills.

  • Must have Advanced English speaking and writing skills.

  • Flexible to travel throughout South America.
