Main Purpose:
Founded in 1993, Trafigura is one of the largest physical commodities trading groups in the world. Trafigura sources, stores, transports, and delivers a range of raw materials (including oil and refined products and metals and minerals) to clients around the world. The trading business is supported by industrial and financial assets, including 49.6 percent owned global oil products storage and distribution company Puma Energy; global terminals, warehousing and logistics operator Impala Terminals; Trafigura's Mining Group; 50 percent owned DT Group which specializes in logistics and trading; and Galena Asset Management.

MAIN PURPOSE:


As an operator, you are an enthusiastic self-starter with a strong interest in crafting and maintaining excellent business relationships.

Given that the role will involve regular discussions with both traders and foreign clients regarding a wide range of commercial issues, a dynamic personality coupled with an ability to work under pressure are fundamental to your success.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  1. Bachelor degree in Business / Mathematics / Statistics / Economics or a related subject
  2. Proficient English is essential as daily contact with traders and internal departments is conducted in the language
  3. Good level of Portuguese and Spanish is required
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and numeral literacy
  5. Ability to be flexible and work to deadlines and under pressure
  6. Accurate and efficient working style with good attention to detail to complete the daily processes
  7. Open personality with energy and drive
  8. IT skills are a must; Excel, Word, Outlook

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Written and verbal daily contact with suppliers, receivers, and service providers
  2. Co-ordinating the shipments with our customers and suppliers
  3. Issuing and taking releases to and from international warehouses
  4. Preparing and handling of all shipping documents
  5. Invoicing while observing and maintaining payments terms (Holding Certificates, CAD, Letters of Credit, Bank collections, Open Account etc)
  6. Checking and arranging payments
  7. Insuring cargoes while observing incoterms
  8. Taking LME pricing orders and declaring quotational periods
  9. Handling claims by mediating and coordination with all parties involved
  10. Arranging for inspection, sampling, assaying and umpires of the various products
  11. Organising and co-ordinating the shipments by vessel, truck, rail, multimodal through direct contact with shipping lines, warehouses, brokers, owners, brokers, etc
  12. Checking and calculating demurrage/dispatch
  13. Being in regular contact with brokers, shipping agents, stevedores
  14. Maintaining credit lines, shipping lists, debtor reports and exposure sheets

Key Relationships and Department Overview:
This position has frequent contact with Traders, Trade Finance, Accounting, Treasury and Risk and VAT.
