What you will do

1. Design & Development: architect, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin; build flexible, data-driven mobile components that perform seamlessly across phones, tablets, and desktop views; integrate companion features or enhancements for Roku devices to create a cohesive multi-platform streaming experience.
2. Lifecycle Management: oversee the full Android development lifecycle—from initial concept to App Store release and ongoing updates; troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems to ensure smooth and reliable app operations.
3. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: work closely with product managers and design teams to ensure on-time, user-centric feature development; lead integration and management of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and other modern build tools; participate in on-call rotations and incident management, ensuring swift resolution of production issues.

Must haves

1. Technical Expertise: 3+ years of commercial Android development experience; proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and modern Android frameworks and libraries; demonstrated experience in building extensible, data-driven Android software, integrating with RESTful APIs, JSON-RPC, gRPC, or similar protocols.
2. Roku Experience: familiarity with Roku development (e.g., BrightScript, Roku SDK, SceneGraph) to support integration of companion features between mobile apps and Roku streaming devices.
3. Process & Collaboration: experience working in a multi-developer environment, including managing App Store build creation, submission, and deployment; a strong advocate for platform-specific CI/build infrastructure and automated testing; excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a keen eye for monitoring, alerting, and code coverage best practices.
4. Industry Awareness: up-to-date with current mobile trends, emerging technologies, and modern development approaches to continually elevate product quality.
5. Language Skills: Upper-intermediate level of English.
