We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Lead DevOps Engineer with expertise in High-Performance Computing (HPC) to optimize workflows and resource allocation in support of cutting-edge research in biotech and pharmaceuticals. This position plays a vital role in enhancing efficiency, advancing R&D capabilities, and integrating innovative technologies to improve HPC environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and tailor workflows for HPC systems while ensuring compliance with scheduling policies and software standards.
  • Analyze user-submitted code to identify opportunities for optimization, enhancing execution speed and resource utilization.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for flagged jobs, working directly with users to resolve issues and offer solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on workflows, challenges, and best practices to maximize HPC system utilization.
  • Deliver training and share expertise on workflows for genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics, which are critical to biotech and pharmaceutical innovation.
  • Leverage knowledge of Linux, Python, and R to address diverse computational requirements and enhance system performance.
  • Integrate technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming into workflows to support deep learning applications.
  • Advise teams on leveraging cloud platforms like AWS to extend HPC capabilities and hybridize workflows.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure seamless communication and timely delivery of technical solutions.
  • Identify and implement improvements to workflows and HPC system performance to support ongoing research needs.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in developing workflows and optimizing code for HPC systems.
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems, along with proficiency in Python and R for scientific programming and automation tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Cuda programming, demonstrating the ability to incorporate deep learning frameworks into workflows.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and the ability to integrate HPC workflows with cloud-based solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of biotech and pharmaceutical workflows, including genomics, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics, with a focus on accelerating drug discovery and development processes.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to users across varying technical levels.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams to address and resolve computational challenges.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting computational biology or drug discovery efforts within biotech or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Contributions to open-source tools or projects related to HPC or DevOps practices in scientific research.
  • Knowledge of scientific visualization tools designed for computational life sciences applications.
  • Proficiency in advanced containerization or cloud-native HPC technologies to optimize DevOps workflows.
