Position Summary.

We are on the lookout for a highly driven individual with a passion for the meat industry. This position will be responsible for supporting and procuring commodity meat products (pork, beef, chicken, or turkey) while building and maintaining solid long-term relationships with counterparties in the meat industry across South America. The position clientele will include other traders, distributors, and meat processors.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Responsible for assisting the purchasing specialist in the management of the portfolio of suppliers in the South America market.
2. Responsible for assisting in the execution, coordination, and follow-up of buying and selling.
3. Consults with suppliers to secure product and/or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
4. Ensure daily analysis of market trends and data.
5. Work closely with the trade team and other sales teams to gain incremental business opportunities across all trade channels.
6. Work closely with logistics and operations to satisfy customers (internal and external) needs and timelines.
7. Provide support to purchasing specialists to achieve sales goals and KPIs for the category.
8. Work closely with accounting and accounts payable to comply with all requirements and to ensure aging is up to date and within parameters.
9. Provide support to the team to ensure efficient execution of trades.
10. Availability to travel locally and internationally up to 20%.

Required Experience and Skills:

1. Minimum of 3+ years of procurement experience in the protein industry.
2. Knowledge of South American markets across the protein industry.
3. Good connections with meat packers and end users preferred.
4. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy, while quick to learn.
5. Excellent negotiation, oral, and written communication skills.
6. Enjoys helping and interacting with other people; always friendly and courteous.
7. Excellent judgment and discretion in handling difficult situations.
8. Strong work ethic and a natural team player who helps others succeed.
9. Excited about enhancing performance by leveraging the use of technology and our database to increase sales.
10. Portuguese is a must. Fluent English and Spanish highly preferable.
