What you'll do:

As a JR Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for packaging development projects within the Food Preservation Organization. Provide design support for refrigeration and freezer Architectures across global business areas (NA-EU-AP-LA). The candidate will ensure that developments are aligned with the strategic focus of creating a “Best-in-Class consumer experience” in the areas of “Taste, Care & Wellbeing Innovation”, “Quality and Ownership Experience”, and “Star Products with Preferred Partners.”

In detail, you will:

• Design interior and exterior packaging for finished goods with a focus on product protection and sustainability that satisfy global distribution challenges.
• Provide engineering cost estimates for parts and tooling during project scoping and feasibility.
• Leverage modular design principles to develop best practices that can be implemented across platforms to reduce complexity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to create cohesiveness between packaging design and assembly methods, including the exploration of automated assembly.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure product distribution and testing rigors are incorporated into our product design, reducing the need for excess packaging.
• Support Product Care with quality improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
• Create global standards for product/packaging transportation lab testing.
• Expand the use of FEA simulation testing to support concept validation prior to prototype creation.
• Scope packaging designs that meet the rigors of the e-commerce environment.
• Partner with warehousing and logistics on proper handling techniques to reduce transportation damage.
• Network with outside packaging resources; including suppliers, organizations, and academia to inspire innovation.

As part of the culture of continuous improvement, you will be involved in Lean Thinking projects and activities (EMS/C2W).

Who you are:

You have:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred;
• Experience with product development;
• Knowledge of Product Development Processes deliverables like: design reviews, DFMEA, DFA;
• Proficiency with CAD software is mandatory, Catia V5 (preferred) or similar;
• Experience in protective packaging development of major appliances or similar large products is preferred;
• Availability to travel is required, including travel to our facilities in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, and Latin America;
• Advanced English.
