Job overview and responsibilities

The Modeling & Simulation specialist within Digital Operations delivers engineering and scientific consulting, support, and integration for all business units. The IT IAE & Piping specialist in this group brings expert knowledge in software for design, construction (focusing on electricity and piping), and automation. Working closely with the product manager, this specialist provides technical support, leads or participates in projects, and fosters strong connections with business and global teams to address their challenges, propose solutions, and celebrate shared successes. They also identify areas for improvement, driving value creation while adhering to IT standards. Essential software tools in this domain include AutoCAD Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, Engineering Base, ISO Plan, Eplan, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, and more.

• Maintain in operational condition the current landscape and interfaces (upgrade, migration, patching, L2-3 incidents, functional assistance, access and permissions)
• Maintain the documentation, inventory, configurations management
• Execute and manage application installation, licenses, and access authorization
• Coordinate with end users for “business” assistance/consultation, realize specific configurations, and data management
• Monitor dedicated application servers, license servers, and database servers
• Follow IT Preconizations (Eg. Security rules, M2C, OS Migration, etc.)
• Manage IS Integration & Deployment (Client & Server Side)
• Monitor application usage & Syensqo EA portfolio
• Improve support processes and coordinate with the service-desk the level1 support for users, handle level 2 escalations and coordinate level 3 with vendors/editors until resolution
• Promote best practices and valuable use cases across businesses and global functions, assist key users on-boarding
• Being the 1st point of contact for key users in engineering group and key business users
• Monitor key service indicators and escalate deviations to the product manager
• Develop a tactical and strategic relationship with partners and vendors, pilot contract execution and related budget
• Provide technical & functional expertise on product/technology evolutions and version upgrades, connect with vendors, and ensure compatibility with business needs
• Evaluate emerging technologies like AR/VR, Drones, AI, etc. for use cases in the engineering project life cycle
• Lead the exercise of IT engineering landscape simplification working closely with the business users
• Lead and contribute to projects in the scope of engineering to enhancement such as guarantee availability, resiliency, performance and cyber security
• Contribute to the roadmap construction. Sponsor and develop new solutions in coordination with the product managers, the architects and technical leaders.
• Enforce cyber security and compliance rules as per company policy, with special attention to export control regulated data.
• Participate to internal audits
• Bring added value with Business Expertise and IT Skills acting as a key gear between end users and IT best practices

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant course of studies

+5 years’ experience in that domain

Skills and behavioral competencies

• Strong Knowledge on the end-to-end Engineering Project Lifecycle (Research, Design, Construct, Operation/Maintenance, Rehabilitation)
• Solid experience in IT Infrastructure (Network, Firewalls, Hosting, Windows Server & Workstation)
• Strong knowledge of engineering data/files workflow, file types, compatibility with other upstream and downstream applications
• Working knowledge of the IAE & Piping engineering tools
• Strong knowledge on data storage strategies (local file servers, central servers, cloud) with impact on the applications
• Ability to manage multiple application and license servers/engine and ensure internal as well as external compliance
• Basic knowledge of workflows and file/data exchange between engineering teams, 3rd party, contractors as a part of an engineering project
