General
St. Paul’s School seeks a passionate and talented Business Management and/or Economics teacher with the qualifications and experience necessary for effective IB Diploma instruction.
The Business Management and Economics Department is part of the Humanities faculty. The subjects are highly popular IB Diploma courses at St. Paul’s, with strong examination results. Many pupils continue their studies in these fields at top universities in the US, UK, Europe, and Brazil. While a specialist in Business or Economics is preferred, candidates with the ability to teach additional disciplines are welcome. IB experience is an advantage, but training and guidance will be provided.
A full commitment to school life and ongoing professional development is expected.
In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will have a pastoral role and be a tutor to a group of Senior School pupils. Tutoring is a significant part of a teacher’s responsibilities at St. Paul’s, both in terms of time devoted to it and its contribution towards the successful running of the school. Participation in enrichment clubs and societies will also be expected.
Economics and Business Department
This well-organised department continually seeks improvement. There are currently four teachers, with around 40 pupils per subject per Sixth Form year group. Some pupils choose to study both subjects.
While the primary focus is Sixth Form teaching, teachers are expected to engage across all age groups and abilities. Experience with assessment for learning and using diverse activities to enhance critical thinking and IB Learner Profile skills is an advantage.
The department is committed to digital innovation, making experience in digital resource development valuable. Teachers must also challenge high-achieving pupils, foster real-world connections through guest speakers and visits, and support pupils in international competitions.
