Who will you be working with?

In collaboration with the Service Leader, the Fleet Program Manager (FPM) serves as the primary customer point-of-contact for all service and reliability-related matters. The FPM engages directly with all levels of customer management while navigating the extensive GE matrix. Additionally, the FPM closely partners with Services to support the implementation of shop initiatives, work scopes, and new locomotive models or orders.

As the FPM, you will take ownership and drive the delivery of commitments related to assigned fleet reliability, as well as fulfill specific contractual obligations for Railway.

What do we want to know about you?

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or leadership role
  • Background in locomotive field services, manufacturing, or maintenance. This role demands extensive locomotive product and technical knowledge from day one.
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking fluent English

What will your typical day look like?

  • Manage internal and customer communications regarding fleet performance, reliability program updates, warranty matters, and issue investigations.
  • Maintain tracking systems (CCD, Reliance, and others) and develop project and FMI execution plans to meet internal targets for assigned fleets and customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, fleet management, commercial, and program management teams to identify and implement solutions to reliability challenges. Prioritize projects and ensure engineering solutions are integrated into future locomotive or parts production. Monitor and support engineering projects to achieve case age goals.
  • Coordinate field tests (FTONs) with engineering, Service Leaders, and the GLO Program Management team.
  • Work with engineering to create detailed work scopes, schedules, and planned expenditures for modification programs.
  • Liaise with Project Managers and/or account material leaders for FMI material planning and logistics.
  • Oversee the execution of reliability programs associated with all assigned locomotive fleets.
  • Deliver post-project analyses to evaluate FMI reliability effectiveness and cost or productivity outcomes.
  • Provide leadership to drive process improvements across all functions delivering service and warranty support to the customer.
  • Lead and develop FPM direct reports by assigning fleets, sharing knowledge, and providing guidance and coaching for professional growth.
  • Manage Quality Leader direct reports to meet shop operational quality targets, including repeater rates, RX reissue rates, workmanship quality, workscope compliance, and shop-based training.
  • Advocate for excellence in service quality and technical project delivery.
  • Play a leadership role in shaping recommendations and strategies that align with the best interests of both the customer and the company.
