Purpose and Scope

As a Hemodialysis Team Leader at Fresenius Medical Care, you will play a vital role in providing chronic hemodialysis care and treatment. You will provide day-to-day direction and supervision to assigned direct patient care staff, communicating effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and complete patient care plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, support, and direction to direct patient care staff, offering informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formal feedback input for annual performance evaluations.
• Participate in department staffing and recommend disciplinary action as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with company and facility-approved procedures, policies, and regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of current dialysis practices by participating in scheduled in-services.
• Train and orient staff as needed, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.

Patient Care

• Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments appropriately.
• Monitor and supervise all patient care activity during dialysis, implementing changes as directed.
• Collaborate with direct patient care teams to make decisions that benefit patient care.
• Educate patients and families about End-Stage Renal Disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medication.

Technical and Other Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe and effective use of equipment involved in direct patient care.
• Perform required testing and verification, ensuring proper start-up and shut-down procedures.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager.
