BRP is seeking a Data Business Analyst who will be participating to support our Data Platform Modernization (DPM) project at BRP. This position will be responsible for supporting data management, data quality, and analysis activities within the project scope. The role will support and enable the Data Stewards in standardizing the Master data design within MDM scope based on input from the business sectors (Business Process Lead and Data Stewards). Responsibilities
Data Management:
Perform business process analysis, identify gaps and inefficiencies, propose solutions and plans to streamline; contribute to the definition and implementation of data management and quality processes that enable the optimal and secure use of data, while respecting compliance, privacy, confidentiality, and security policies.
Work in collaboration with the Data Stewards to ensure data standards (data model, data object policies), X-reference and list of value, business rules, workflows, and supporting transactions are aligned with the MDM Standard Template.
Provide technical expertise and guidelines on master data configuration, data maintenance processes, and its complete end-to-end process, including interfaces, transport/release management, and master data maintenance tools.
Understand and gather the business rules of critical data elements and enforce the application of defined business rules, data standards, data policies, and data management processes.
Optimize the usage of the system and the business processes already in flight.
Support decommission strategy and execution of legacy data warehouse.
Document and contribute/lead the implementation of required changes through the process (interface to IT support, impact analysis, data changes, testing, etc.).
Ensure changes to business processes are coordinated with the Data Stewards, other process owners, and backward integrated to legacy data warehouse.
Proactively monitor data accuracy and facilitate required data corrective actions with business owners, including leading the establishment of the monitoring framework on critical data elements, including the tool and its enforcement.
Data Quality:
Provide expertise, guidance, and contribution to the development, sustenance, and improvement of the Data Quality Program, including:
Establishing process governance related to data quality to ensure data accuracy, viability, traceability, integrity, and value.
Identifying data quality risks, facilitating root-cause analysis, resolving, and communicating data quality issues impacting business analytics.
Building data quality monitors, models, processes, and controls.
Participating in projects to provide expertise and advice on the framework of data quality guidelines and standards, including data quality assessment, monitoring, and validation approach.
Aligning activities and deliverables of the Data Quality Program to the Data Governance Framework and roadmap, contributing to the data strategy mandate.
Establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with stakeholders to ensure quality and integrity of BRP data.
Serve as a subject matter expert on data quality aspects of the BRP reporting and analytics data, collaborating with data engineers in developing complex queries and reports to extract, merge, and compile data; in-depth knowledge of business rules for data transformation, business definitions, dimensions, and measures.
Build and deliver comprehensive and professional data quality metrics/dashboards, reports, and/or presentations for BRP management, tailoring deliverables to the appropriate level of detail.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including policies and process governance for all data quality processes, procedures, metrics, and controls.
Provide coaching in support of Data Quality initiatives by identifying training needs, providing support for any formal training required to maintain data quality and integrity, and mentoring on the understanding of BRP data.
Data Analysis:
Design, build, deliver, and maintain world-class reporting for all business areas by using Power BI.
Translate conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers, project, and analytics teams.
Develop a deep understanding of the various business processes, data sets, and BI deliverables.
Perform data analysis and profiling in a huge volume of data.
Perform preliminary data validation activities, identify any anomalies, build the summary, and inform the business owner for further data validation.
Support SOX validation process through documentation preparation.
Use knowledge of specific data products available and visualization capabilities to enhance requirements and provide insightful suggestions to business stakeholders.
Prioritize work with the team and ensure there is a forward-looking roadmap for features to be delivered on the data products their domain team is tasked with.
Assist in the daily support of end-users’ ability to effectively and efficiently utilize the reporting platform.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business technology, computer science, Mathematics, information systems, or a related study, or equivalent related project experience.
5+ years of experience in the field of Data Quality or data analysis within a data warehouse or data management environment with a focus on intensive data usage; in-depth understanding and application of Data Quality principles across the data lifecycle.
Familiarity with Data Quality platforms, such as Informatica, Collibra, Monte Carlo, etc., is preferred.
Knowledge of linking technical elements (Data Models) to business elements (Business process mapping) is preferred.
Working knowledge of BI and data warehouse concepts and terminology.
Significant experience in SQL.
Experience building reports in Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, BOBJ, MSTR, or similar platforms.
Experience with DBT or similar is a nice-to-have.
Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PPT, and Excel.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple projects; issue management experience.
Strong ability to work in undiscovered, unstructured territories and to formalize processes that are currently not formalized.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence and orient business and technical audiences toward a common goal that satisfies all stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills and experience with working with Key Performance Indicators.
Attention to detail and ability to deliver a mandate with great autonomy – self-driven.
