Position: Academic Performance Coach – High School

Location: São Paulo, Brazil

Our high school program emphasizes project-based learning, critical thinking, creativity, and a global perspective. To support this, we are seeking an Academic Performance Coach to track student academic progress, support personalized learning plans, and collaborate with educators, students, and families to ensure every learner achieves their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor Academic Performance: Track and assess student academic progress, ensuring that all students meet or exceed expected performance benchmarks. Collaborate with educators to analyze data and refine learning strategies.
  2. Flag Underperforming Students: Identify students who are not meeting academic expectations. Develop and implement personalized improvement plans in collaboration with students, teachers, and families to address performance gaps.
  3. Manage External Assessments: Oversee the administration and preparation for external assessments, ensuring students are adequately prepared and that all assessment requirements are met according to school and external standards.
  4. Connect with Students and Families: Engage with students and their families, offering resources, guidance, and support to promote academic success. Establish strategies to improve academic outcomes and foster open communication.
  5. Coach on Study Skills: Provide individual and group coaching sessions focused on effective study habits, time management, and academic organization, empowering students to achieve high performance in their academic pursuits.
  6. Teach Support Classes: Lead academic support classes and workshops, focusing on specific subjects, test preparation, or skill development to enhance student performance in targeted areas.
  7. Manage Learning Management System (LMS): Oversee the LMS, ensuring that student progress is visible to both parents and teachers. Facilitate transparent communication around academic development and performance.
  8. Manage Student-Led Conferences and Parent-Teacher Conferences: Organize and facilitate student-led and parent-teacher conferences, creating opportunities for students to reflect on their academic progress and engage families in the learning process.
  9. Model High-Performance Strategies: Demonstrate and model effective learning strategies and academic habits that students can incorporate into their studies, supporting a culture of academic excellence and responsibility.
  10. Collaborate with Divisional Leadership: Work closely with the divisional leadership team to co-create strategies that support the overall academic success of the student body and align with departmental goals.
  11. Monitoring and Reporting: Periodically monitor student progress and present reports on outcomes. Reassess student needs based on progress, adjusting growth plans as necessary. Report all growth plans and actions to the Division Principal.

Qualifications:

Education: Postgraduate degree or Master's in Education, Pedagogy, or a related field.

Relevant Teaching Experience: Relevant teaching experience with a track record of supporting diverse learners and driving academic success.

Professional Development Expertise: Experience in teacher development and training, with the ability to coach and support educators in implementing effective teaching and assessment strategies.

Bilingual Education Experience: Previous experience in a bilingual education environment, demonstrating an understanding of second language acquisition and effective methodologies for supporting bilingual learners.

School Leadership Experience (Desirable): Experience in school leadership roles or educational management is highly desirable.

Language: English proficiency at C1 or higher.

Classroom Experience: Experience as a teacher with a strong record of supporting student growth and academic achievement.

Skills: Analytical and organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and families, adaptability, and a strong understanding of educational data.

Knowledge: Experience in analyzing educational assessment data, proficiency in using technological tools such as Toddle, and knowledge of external assessments (MAP, SAT, TOEFL, etc.).
