What you will do

1. Lead the design, development, and deployment of Python-based backend systems and APIs;
2. Architect scalable and maintainable systems to support high-availability applications;
3. Refactor legacy libraries and upgrade key dependencies (e.g., pandas, numpy, scipy, python, MongoDB, PostgreSQL);
4. Optimize system performance by rewriting slow procedural code using best practices;
5. Offload work across cloud services using HPC techniques;
6. Implement concurrency using multiprocessing and asyncio where possible;
7. Rewrite critical procedures in Rust when appropriate;
8. Improve cloud provisioning and infrastructure as code (Terraform);
9. Develop self-healing and automation strategies for scaling;
10. Integrate and optimize Generative AI capabilities (local: Ollama/Docker, cloud: AWS Bedrock);
11. Support API and frontend integration for chat, streaming responses, and code generation;
12. Collaborate closely with product, DevOps, and frontend teams to align development efforts with business objectives;
13. Mentor and guide junior engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting best coding practices;
14. Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.

Must haves

1. 5+ years of professional Python development experience;
2. Strong experience with frameworks like Django or Flask;
3. Deep understanding of RESTful API design and implementation;
4. Proficiency in working with databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB;
5. Experience leading teams or projects with excellent mentorship skills;
6. Strong problem-solving abilities and an analytical mindset;
7. Familiarity with shell scripting (sh/bash/zsh).

Nice to haves

1. Experience with Rust, Go, or Cython;
2. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and infrastructure as code (Terraform);
3. Experience with containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes);
4. Exposure to data engineering tools like Pandas, NumPy, Apache Airflow;
5. Experience with HPC techniques, concurrency models, and performance optimization;
6. Experience integrating GenAI technologies and fine-tuning models.
