Overview /Objective

The Director of Investigations and Security Services International will be responsible for managing investigations, special events planning and management, game day security, game integrity, and fan conduct programs for the NFL's International Series Games (ISG) in Mexico, Central America, and South America.

The Director will also be responsible for managing relationships with contract security personnel specific to the ISG. They will serve as the operational manager for international matters relating to the implementation of and compliance with the NFL Security Department's policies covering physical security/Safety Act Compliance, investigations, and special event planning and management. They will also be responsible for identifying and developing security programs and overseeing investigations to protect the most valuable assets of the NFL. In addition to internal coordination, the Director must work effectively with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement entities to ensure the safety of the NFL's venues, fans, players, staff, and infrastructure. The position requires constant high-level coordination with NFL executive staff, club ownership, and stadium management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, supervise, and manage detailed and complex investigations involving alleged impropriety or criminal conduct.
  • Assign and manage investigative tasks performed by security representatives; review and approve detailed investigative reports.
  • Identify and evaluate security contractors for international games and events.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage complex security plans for large special events both internationally and in the US.
  • Partner with NFL Clubs and related stadium managers to review and provide security plans, where necessary.
  • Manage key proactive security programs to include "Best Practices" for Stadium Security, Fan Conduct and Fair Competition Initiatives to ensure programs remain relevant and effective.
  • Assess stadiums and other venues for suitability for NFL games and events.
  • Assist with preparation and presentations at executive level briefings.
  • Participate in other department administration, as assigned by the Chief Security Officer.
  • The Director will have direct supervisory responsibilities for contractors and possibly full-time employees.
  • Coordinate with NFL clubs assigned to the Global Marketing Program.
  • Serve as a dedicated security resource for the NFL Mexico and Brazil offices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or at least 10 years of experience in law enforcement or a related field with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of international work experience in law enforcement or security.
  • Ability to pass a rigorous background review.
  • Ability to obtain a federal security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree (Master's or JD).
  • Prior work experience in international security planning for large special events, dignitary protection, intelligence, or counterterrorism

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting complex and varied criminal investigations to include, but not limited to, financial crimes, crimes of violence, gambling offenses, weapons offenses and drug and alcohol-related offenses.
  • Expertise in both civil and criminal judicial processes, to include rules of evidence, prosecutorial determinations, court proceedings and civil lawsuits.
  • Strong background in intelligence gathering, to include familiarity and use of online resources, subscription services and public record checks.
  • Proven track record as a strong communicator – written and oral presentations; capable of rapidly providing detailed, yet concise, written reports.
  • Extensive network of law enforcement contacts at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Familiarity with current social media and its usage.
  • Proficiency in the use of investigative databases.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with people at all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • In-depth experience conducting interviews.

Physical Demands

  • This role requires long periods of standing, climbing stairs and walking in connection with NFL game and stadium operations and special events.

Travel

  • This position will initially be a remote position; however, upon establishment of an NFL Brazil office, the position may change to in-office. Travel both internationally and in the United States is required for this position. While frequency and duration of travel will vary throughout the year, applicants should anticipate approximately 40%-50% travel.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • FSLA Exempt
  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week.

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
