Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Design Technician to join our Rio de Janeiro office. As part of the Design Group, the Design Technician will be responsible for preparing and modifying CAD drawings for assigned projects in accordance with company and agency CAD standards and procedures.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise CAD drawings (plans, details, exhibits, and as-builts) for structural projects (bridges, waterfront structures, buildings, etc.) using various materials and design standards.
  • Manage the production of complete sets of engineering drawings ensuring high-quality product.
  • Collaborate with consultants and other Moffatt & Nichol offices.
  • Coordinate development of models between disciplines including but not limited to structural, architectural, site civil, roadway, grading, and MEP.
  • Ability to set up project-specific CADD standards and introduce new methods and CADD routines to enhance productivity and improve operations.
  • Assist in providing training and mentoring to other technicians as required.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year Technical or Associates degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
  • 10 or more years of bridge or structural drafting experience using AutoCAD (required) and MicroStation (a strong plus).
  • Working knowledge of various CADD standards.
  • Understanding general design concepts and construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
  • Ability to work on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Good analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possess good organization and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Working experience with Revit or similar BIM software.
  • Working experience with Civil3D.

Working conditions:

Work is generally performed in an office setting and the ability to use standard office equipment and furnishings is required. On rare occasions, travel may be required to another office.
