The Engineer reviews and analyzes assignments normally involving a major project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects, by nature of their complexity and difficulty, require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or science. Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, the Engineer will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures.
What You Will Do:
- Perform detailed inspections review of designs and/or inspection on the construction, under the ABS Office supervision, as assigned, to show compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, Standards, Engineer Disciplines, and contract commitments.
- Once a problem is identified, describe a non-conformance and draft technically accurate and timely reports to the ABS Office personnel.
- Propose new approaches to the encountered problems to the ABS Office personnel, and work directly with them to identify and resolve issues in the area of technical expertise.
- Make recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, execution, or designs when needed.
- Prepare accurate and timely weekly reports and billing on all work performed.
- Communicate the status of the current workload to all appropriate team members to ensure the clients' needs will be met.
- Implement and maintain ABS Quality System requirements relative to responsibilities after undergoing ABS Quality System training.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience: Degree in Civil Engineering. Graduate from University with a minimum of five (5) years of related industry experience. Experience in the infrastructure business in the Highway and Railway segments, technical processes, as well as problem-solving skills, are necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of related technical disciplines required (Geology, geometry, earthworks, paving, traffic diversion, foundation, structures, OAEs, etc.).
- The ability to identify, analyze, and propose solutions to problems.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Able to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
It Would Be Nice If You Had: Active registration in the Regional Engineering Council (CREA) is necessary.
Reporting Relationships:
The incumbent will report to a senior level Engineer or Technical Manager. This position does not have any direct reports.
