How you will create an impact

  1. Handle major Casualty and Environmental Claims from initial notification through to final settlement within an agreed level of authority and service standards.
  2. Oversee work of staff, provide support to the team, organize, and aim to improve procedures.
  3. Review/input reserves and continually evaluate reserves during the life of the claim to ensure accuracy of financial exposure. Identify and make reserve recommendations to management on claims evaluated greater than assigned authority.
  4. Document and organize all cases assigned.
  5. Engage coverage counsel and loss adjusters, and any other external resources as well as supervise the work of vendors, including lawyers, accountants, experts, and loss adjusters.
  6. Engage with internal and external customers on complex technical issues and participate in external customer claim file reviews and audits when required.
  7. Provide reports of claims to management, actuarial, and underwriters when required.
  8. Work closely with underwriters and distribution to develop a thorough understanding of the business and contribute to “best practice” overall.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  3. Strong technical knowledge in Casualty and Environmental Claims and capability to manage and oversee assigned claims.
  4. Depth of experience in major/complex claims handling.
  5. Knowledge of self-insured retentions, reinsurance, and coinsurance claims handling.
  6. Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
  7. Ability to identify and report performance issues to the management and the team.
  8. Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at every level both internally & externally (underwriting, actuaries, finance, reinsurance, and other stakeholders on claim trends).
  9. Strong knowledge of legal, regulatory, and litigation norms in the claims area.
  10. Ability to collaborate and successfully manage work when working at home or in the office in a flexible work environment.
  11. Advanced English Skills.
