Summary:
The Financial Controller-SCM is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions and financial reporting for OIA’s Supply Chain Management business group. This is a high visibility role that partners closely with Director and Executive level managers to help them understand their financials, steer them towards smart decisions and ensure compliance with standards and budgets. The individual in this role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information, is responsible for developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the close process, and oversees significant (external) customer-facing financial reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business partnering with SCM business unit owners/executives to provide analysis and insights into gross profit and expenses. As a part of this you will:
- Engage in monthly financial analysis and review of cost center P&Ls. Perform monthly cost center P&L reviews with the stakeholders. Assess and identify necessary monthly/quarterly/annual accruals.
- Provide oversight and controllership of business unit costs.
- Contribute to RFQs and ongoing evaluation of customer contracts and program performance.
- Act as F&A subject-matter expert and point of contact for a variety of internal customers.
- Be point of contact for all SCM-related matters.
- Direct supervisory responsibility over US staff whose roles are specific to the business unit, including General Ledger and Accounting Operations (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable).
- Be responsive to escalated issues and supportive in resolving challenges. These challenges frequently do not have clear precedent.
- Dotted line reporting with foreign staff, involving occasional off-hours meetings.
- Lead critical processes and tasks related to SCM accounting activities. This includes:
- Manage business-critical, multi-faceted, customer rebate accounting and reporting process.
- Manage SCM-specific staff covering AR, AP and GL. Train, advise and review their work.
- Partake in development and implementation of order management (operations) system. Engage in testing process and manage rollout of new features and best practices.
- Oversee customer collections and supplier settlement activities.
- Ensure accuracy of treasury information and assist in cash flow forecasting activities.
- Oversee inventory accounting.
- Coordinate with external auditors to provide critical information and otherwise facilitate the audit process.
- Manage preparation of relevant local tax returns and regulatory filings.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as needed to support the business.
Required Skills and Abilities:

- Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting principles, fundamental finance metrics, and internal controls.
- Must be comfortable with, and capable of distilling trends from, high transaction volumes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to project confidence and to articulate finance and accounting information for non-accounting people, including senior customer and internal leadership.
- Ability to excel in cross functional teams.
- Intermediate or above proficiency with Excel.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. More important than a specific system, you should understand the relationship between transactions and journal entries.
- Ability to coordinate and interact with counterparts in disparate time zones.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years’ experience in accounting or finance.
- Experience with Workday Financials a plus.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
