About the Opportunity

You will be paid while you train at the BHP Potash Academy and become a qualified underground Production/Maintenance Technician. These are permanent opportunities, and once successfully completing your studies, you will continue your employment with BHP in a permanent position based at our Jansen mine site with a choice of even time rosters to ensure the best work-life balance. Traineeships are an 8-month training program based at the academy. Trainees study to become highly skilled and valued production technicians with BHP, completing a certificate in mining essentials and a certificate in applied mechanics. You will also get a blend of theory, practical and on-site learning while becoming familiar with maintaining/operating specific mining equipment.

Training is undertaken in Humboldt. While training you will be working Monday to Friday a standard 8hr day at Carlton Trails College. Candidates would need to relocate to the Humboldt area if they do not already live locally.

Once You Deploy to Site

Upon successful completion of the training program, you will commence mine-site based employment at our Jansen operations. It is expected that you will reside within a safe 90km commute from the Jansen mine site. Graduates will deploy to site as Production Technicians or Maintenance Technicians working underground.

Daily activities include:

1. Relocate supplies using heavy equipment.
2. Mucking with a scoop (LHD).

5. Motivation to achieve goals & enjoy a mixture of classroom and hands-on learning.
6. Ability to live a safe traveling distance to the Humboldt/Jansen region.
7. Experience working on machinery/vehicles through a hobby or work is highly regarded.
